Redemptive Suffering
July 19, 2024The Role of Women in The Church
July 19, 2024While there is little doubt that the battle between Muslims and Christians revolved around power as much as
faith, it seems that many people are under the impression that Europe, without provocation and incited by the
Pope, attacked the Muslims at the end of the eleventh century. But Islam overran the Christian east in the
seventh and eighth centuries. The Byzantine Empire continued to battle against Muslim infiltration across the
ninth, tenth and eleventh centuries, as Islam itself infought across religious and cultural lines. The Ottoman
Turkish Empire European invasion reached Vienna before being crushed on 9/11/1683. Jihad continues today in
the form of Islamic extremists. And then there are the largely forgotten Northern Crusades.
