Redemptive Suffering

Believers and non-believers alike ask: If God so loved the world, why does He allow suffering? “On the Cross,
Jesus provided a new meaning for suffering by giving it redemptive power. By his grace we are able to unite
our pain to his redemptive passion… Uniting ourselves more closely with the sufferings of Our Lord we receive
the grace of sharing in His saving work. Our suffering, joined to the cross of Christ, builds up the People of
