Certainly, Jesus Christ could have written out what we are to believe, but he did not. Instead, the Father sent the Holy Spirit to help us stay on the rails as we exercise our free will. Perhaps that is because Jesus wants us to build a personal relationship with him based on knowledge and experience. Who knew him better than his
Apostles? The Great Church Councils formed a Creed and canonized the New Testament around the traditional apostolic foundation. The latter Councils formed the core doctrines of the modern Roman Catholic Church.
