Perhaps that is because Jesus wants us to build a personal relationship with him based on knowledge and experience. Who knew him better than his
Apostles? The Great Church Councils formed a Creed and canonized the New Testament around the traditional apostolic foundation. The latter Councils formed the core doctrines of the modern Roman Catholic Church.
